Learning – Deciphered

Khuu,

Good news and bad.

I was able to find out the Domgalein have no love for the humans either. They had endured an attack by those clergy knights and were able to turn the tides on them. Seems the Domgalein followed their sorry asses all the way back to their stronghold and razed it. That is how they came into possession of the crystal.

The bad news is they still have no love for us and are not willing to part with the crystal by any sensible means as of yet.

I, ahem, was a guest with them in these past weeks.

Now I am tired. I’ll send another missive once I rest.

Patience – Deciphered

Rjon,

Do be careful. Domgalein and their Gerla Hounds are not to be trifled with, and I won’t have you taking hasty risks when we are so close to our goal. We still have contact with some of our old allies, though we are not as strong as we once were. Why would the humans have given the crystal to the Domgalein, I wonder? I was not aware they had an alliance, however tenuous. I suspect treachery. Walk softly, warrior-mine, and seek patience. Is there a fairy ring nearby? I could attempt to renew negotiations with the fey or even the goblins if it would be of use to you. Consider it. I know you find them deplorable, but we need allies in this time, and they too have cause to war with the humans. They have cause to war with our kind as well, but one can hope them capable of choosing a side rather than standing back like craven carrion eaters.

I have sent word to Dira and Kolq Feil, though I fear I have not yet received a response. They should be very far south now, almost to their goal, so I shan’t allow the delay in reply to cause concern just yet. Their last missive remained hopeful that they would find the artifacts they seek, which can only be a boon to us.

Concerning my dracling – never you mind. A true leader cannot share her every secret, else what need would you have of me! Obtaining the egg was hardly a simple task, though, so train the portal beast carefully. The last time one went feral, it took five to subdue it, and your forces are as thinly spread as my own.

I cannot heed your wisdom concerning the pregnancy. One of the other concubines tried to assassinate the king, the stupid whore. Not one of ours, of course, just a disgruntled human girl. She nearly succeeded, too. Ever since, the king has ordered the rest of us under a tighter watch. It took more skill than I wish to confess to keep those searching my quarters from finding my urn of homesoil. I am less adept at impersonal illusion than you, and no less than ten searchers rifled my possessions.

I was lucky to feed from the knight when I could. I was right about him. Ripe and bursting with passion, his lust was sweet and thick. A virgin, would you believe it? With the attempt on the king’s life to distract him, I may attempt to conceal our relationship for the time being and pluck that fruit again. Feeding only from the king has become sporadic at best of late, and I will need multiple sources if I am to sustain myself and both proto-faye.

The moon is tomorrow. When next we speak, I shall be carrying, and our presence here even more fragile. If I am discovered, they will destroy not one soul but three.

I hesitated to speak of this, but if your scar has inflamed then there is no longer time for doubt. In truth, I have no answer for you regarding those who come with the night, but I sense that they are stirring as the humans scream word of our presence from the very mountaintops. I do not know what will happen once they learn that we still walk the land. Their hatred for our kind runs deeper than even our memory of what caused it. The best we can hope for is that we shall regain the crystal and our kingdom before they reach full strength. With the humans under our thrall, we might be able to fight them back, as we once did.

Arrival – Deciphered

Kyuu,

From when the great Tower fell I knew our once dominant race would become intimate with pain, suffering and despair. I should never have signed that Tosh blasted document and set aside my armor. Flood or no, twas the responsibility of the humans to retain their side of the agreement. Nurm forgive me, but I shall never live down the loss we suffered all those centuries ago. The humans that live now will never be able to fathom all that once was our kingdom.

Oh look at me go. My tongue, temper and demeanor are still hot from my last night in Loquir. I had that boy pissing his trousers when I finally began to feast on him, oh it was glorious! And by the time I allowed the wind to carry away his screams there was naught but a glimmer of his former self left.

Those Loquirians close to the chapel and library came in a hurry too. I made sure they got a good sight to tell the tale of, some reason for the boy to have gone to his ropes end and never return. That too produced more for me to feed on than it took to make. In the end Nurm was with me and one of those fools spooked his own packbeast and set the chapel ablaze. The town was roused and they spent most of the night fighting the embers, which allowed me to easily find a secure location to travel among the wares of the local statuary.

And now the bad news my friend. The Domgalein have the crystal in their mountain and from what I understand their Gerla Hounds can see through any glamour. We need allies or time or both! The Draclings maw is present now, once the portal fully matured and drug him here, he was not at all happy at first. I gave him some of the Light and he and I became fast friends. I must admit my surprise at your being able to come by one. Perhaps you have means I am not privy too still?

Set down roots to endure the pregnancy, it is the only recourse I can see that will steady you while the rest of us toil. It must be done. Besides, the budlings will be more able to endure than proto-faye. Tell the King, while he lives, that you need a retreat, once the boy has been killed, to get the horrid occurrence of being taken advantage of off your mind. If at all possible take as many of us with you as can be done, for any humans that assist will need to be killed. Perhaps one of mine can ensure a bear mauling…

Have you any word of Dira and Kolq Feil? I know their journey south was to take some months, even years but if they truely have sensed some artifacts of old we could surely make use of them now, if indeed they still answer to our kind.

One last thing Kyuu, the old scar…the red scar has become hot again after all this time. I must know if you have knowledge of those that come with the night! What are we to do?

Rjon

P.S. Tomorrow I test the Gerla Hounds.
