That was, Remora mused as Arthur pulled the carriage to a gentle stop, quite possibly the most awkward ride she had ever had the misfortune to participate in.
Initially, she’d tried to make small talk, but gave up after a few uncomfortably unsuccessful attempts.
McCoy glared at Jinn, Jinn closed his eyes and looked at no one, and Bones stared out the carriage window, unblinking. Of course, he had no eyelids, so he never blinked. Even so, the mood inside the carriage was stifling and she was more than happy to see the end of the trip.
With a loud whoosh of escaping air, the side of the carriage opened outward, bright coppery gears in the ceiling of the carriage spinning cheerfully. Once again grasping Bones’ arm for her exit from the carriage, Remora decided that enough was really quite enough. She could hardly move forward with her plan if the captain refused to speak to her, and McCoy looked disinclined to speak to anyone while Jinn was about.
