Oh, let’s see. What’s new (and scanned) since the last time I posted art? *dives into her art folder and starts digging*

My good friend Deb had a birthday recently, and we started a tradition of random sticky note doodles as birthday gifts. Here’s her Badkitteh, who is clearly unhappy at having to wear a pointy birthday hat.

Working on some gift art for Iris. Lyxes are SO much fun to draw. Also, finally found a style for butterflies that I’m pleased with!

Jodi Meadows held a contest on her blog for the word “butterfly”. I ended up entering a short story rather than this art, but I liked it enough to ink it anyway. =] (Also, I totally won! Sure, it was a random choice from a hat, but the Red Sox hat chose ME. And the five page critique that was rewarded was incredibly helpful. <3 )

Itsy bitsy teeny weeny (tiny polka dot bikini) art dump.

I finished the dino/bunny picture for Tristina Wright and Olivia. <3

And I got a new sketch pencil! It’s blue and fabulous and I’ve been sketching up a storm lately. My scanner is currently out of commission though, so I only have the first sketch available for viewing. A tiny tiger cub for Iris.

Art by CourtneyDoodles

I commissioned a good friend (and fabulous artist) Miss Courtney McWin for some warcraft art. You guys are not gonna BELIEVE how awesome it turned out. I knew you wouldn’t believe it, so that’s why I’m showing it here.

The Design

I knew I wanted Vonya (my draenei priest) to be lying down and reading a book, but I wasn’t sure if I wanted Courtney’s too-adorable “little kid” style (you should see her toddler taurens. They’re heart-melting) or if I wanted something more adult and pretty. I gave her a few guidelines (screenshots, the name of the robe I wanted Vonya wearing, the bubbles and healy sparkles, and the “P” spellbook bookmark – with a cup of tea for adult Vonya and a plush boomkin for the little kid Vonya)

So Courtney sketches BOTH options for me so I can decide! Even after she sketched them, I had a hard time choosing. I even polled folks at work and on Twitter to help make a decision. The kid version won out, so that’s the one we went with. But look at how awesome the preliminary sketches were!

Flats

She even let me see the piece half-colored so I could make any last-minute changes before the shading went in! (Not that I had any changes, but if I DID, it was nice to know I had the opportunity!)

Vonya and Noq

For giggles, I tossed another quick commission on the pile and requested a sketch of kid-Vonya putting a bandaid on kid-Noq’s knee. Noq has been Vonya’s primary tank for a long, long time.

Courtney described Noq’s expression as, “AND DID YOU SEE THAT ONE MONSTER? I WAS LIKE BAM AND HE RAN AWAY CRYING. HAH!” which is pretty much the best thing ever.

Commission Info

Courtney is open for commissions (particularly warcraft commissions, though her non-humanoid art is exceptional, too!).

Find her commission info here.

And I’ve already told her that her prices are too low and she won’t listen to me. *raspberry*
