Taking pictures while you cook something is more difficult than I expected. I keep leaving out steps or cooking a ton of stuff at one time and getting muddled photos.

Here are some recent attempts at working up the pictures for recipe posts.

Sammich

What is on this mystery sandwich? Do I even care? I want one. Why is there no salt and pepper on that tomato? THESE ARE THE THINGS I NEED TO KNOW.

I like to imagine the sandwich looks lonely here. It turns its back to the light and sighs wistfully, thinking of better days, when it was a younger, more spry sandwich. The days before it sparred bravely with a toaster and won, only to find itself on the ceremonial Paper Towel of Imminent Consumption. Its youth had been filled with such promise, such hope. Today, it would be eaten, but it took this brief moment to look back upon its life. It found itself disappointed with how little it had accomplished.

If you think that’s depressing, you obviously don’t yet realize that Mr. Moore photographed AND ATE this sammich while I was at work. I didn’t even get to taste it!

Soup, Soup, a Tasty Soup

No crock pots were used in the making of this soup. Also, leftover chinese food containers rock my world.

Were these mushrooms even IN the soup? I DON’T REMEMBER!

Some of this was eaten shortly after being sauteed. It was delicious.

I see carrots! Where are the pictures of carrots? This whole recipe is a sham!

This soup is a LIAR. I know I added tomato sauce at some point. It was delicious, but there were seven-hundred-and-thirty-two too many kinds of beans in it.

Chocolate Stuff

Blues Brothers soundtrack on vinyl is optional.

This was pretty much the best part of the recipe. Cream cheese and sugar.

What happened between these steps? NOBODY KNOWS!

If you want a neat and tidy recipe, this ain’t it. If you want glorious, messy deliciousness, this will do the trick. Also, pudding. That is all.

Chicken

I don’t even remember what recipe this was for, although it is artfully arranged for photo-taking. I am sure the end result was both delicious AND visually appealing.

  • Please tell me the photo of you slicing the ‘shroom was posed, and that you don’t REALLY put your fingers in that sort of danger on a regular basis??

Also…I can’t tell really well from that photo, but it appears you don’t have a real safe grip on the knife. I am worried for your safety, truly!

    Oh…and yeah, now I’m hungry!!

That’s not me, and I wasn’t there for the taking of the photo, so…I dunno?

  • I actually prefer this version of cookery photoblogging. SO MUCH MYSTERY!

  • @KristenSue
*giggles* This kind of photoblogging I can do ALL THE TIME.

“What is this? When did I take this picture? Is that bigfoot, or just a carved wooden bear? Why did I take a picture of a carved wooden bear?”
