Stained

Stained is my newest novel endeavor. My first attempt at seriously writing a novel for publishing under my own name (Song of Binding is for publishing, but is collaborative).

Seeking escape from a society where having the wrong color eyes was both a curse and a blessing, a young woman joins a strange group of rescuers on their way to save a kidnapped prince. She and her companions will have to confront her society’s ideals about the Stain and she will need to master her own ability in Storycrafting just to stay alive, let alone save a kingdom.

Choose

Choose is a choose-your-own-adventure style webserial. I post an installment and a poll on a loose schedule of every other week. The results of the poll determine something about the story.

Blue Moon

Blue Moon was my first novel. I’m currently rewriting/editing it and reposting it as a webserial. It is not a primary focus of my time, so gets updated as time and life allows between Choose installments.

The Song of Binding

A fantasy novel co-written with my good friend Jenny Gibbons. I know what you’re thinking, “Eee, collaborative writing project! Quick, get the torches and pitchforks!” but it’s not that way at all. Our writing meshes with unbelievable fluidity, and our strengths bolster the weaknesses of the other.

The book is the first in a trilogy, the story of a young human Warden and his hot-tempered Halar apprentice as they try to understand each other and protect their world against an increasingly complex set of dangers. Will their swords, magical Songs, and tenuous friendship be enough to save an entire world that threatens to fall apart in the face of wars and an invasion of their ancient enemies?

Currently, the book is in the primary editing stage. We did a hasty outline and just sat down to write. It wasn’t until we were about halfway through the intended plot that we did a word count and realized that it was already 145,000 words long. We’re in the process of restructuring the first half of what we’d written so that it can be a standalone book, which involves a great deal of rewriting.

Cipher

Cipher Letters : An illicit correspondence between mysterious and dangerous characters hints at secrets from a dark past and a sorcerous plot to overthrow a human government.

Future Plans

Taven

Taven is the name of a fantasy world built by myself and my husband – each of the four distinct continents has at least a trilogy of novels to its name. It has been patiently awaiting my skill as a writer to progress to the point where I can tackle such a monumental project.

An epic tale spanning centuries and crossing four continents. A bet between a force for good and a force for evil will determine the fate of the world. An array of magical swords awaken to the hands of their true wielder. A mute girl with an unusual birthmark befriends a dragon. A goddess chooses an emotionally scarred girl for her Knight. An assassin betrays his order and saves his Mark. A captain forges an uneasy pirate alliance and becomes a king. A young man must choose between a forbidden love and the fate of the world. A dark spirit enters the heart of a holy man. One by one, choices are made, stories are told, and swords are collected.

Ideas

I have more ideas for future worlds, series, and books than I will ever have time to complete. For the sake of protecting those ideas, I won’t list them here. I will never stop writing. The stories in my head won’t allow me to.
